SUMMARY:
Mobile App Development and Web Platform optimization for shipping service provider
CLIENT
To compete effectively in an industry increasingly challenged by digital brokerages such as Uber Freight and Convoy, clients rely on data-driven supply chain management solutions and services offered by freight forwarders and third-party logistics providers (3PLs). These solutions and services are essential for staying competitive in the face of digital disruption.
REQUEST BACKGROUND
The client sought an IT provider with extensive expertise in software solutions for Supply Chain and Logistics. Their initial request was to develop a minimum viable product (MVP) version of a mobile application for truck drivers and brokers. The purpose of this app was to accurately track the actual working hours of drivers, enabling them to receive payment for the work they had actually performed.
CHALLENGE
Faced with extremely tight deadlines, we aimed to deliver a minimum viable product (MVP) within 3 months to secure investments for further development. However, we encountered internal challenges. Brokerage firms often resisted paying for drivers' hours during unforeseen external circumstances, such as traffic jams or vehicle breakdowns. They worried that drivers were deliberately inflating their hours, extending the delivery time beyond what was necessary, with no concrete evidence to support the actual time involved. Our solution needed to address this issue effectively.
GOALS
SOLUTION
Our collaboration began during the audit phase, where our tech specialists conducted a thorough investigation of the existing web solution and Android mobile application. Critical issues were uncovered that could potentially impact app scaling, maintenance, user experience, and security. Given that the applications were designed to handle sensitive personal data, these issues required immediate attention. We promptly optimized the core architecture, rectified bugs, and prioritized code optimization. Subsequently, we enhanced the Android app and developed an iOS application from scratch. Despite tight deadlines, we successfully completed all tasks within three months.
OUTCOME
